My Story

Generation X/Jersey Girl/Therapy Remixed

I grew up in Trenton, New Jersey at the height of the crack epidemic. I remember that time and those images like it was yesterday. Any #GenX can tell you, crack was definitely WACK. My friends and I stepped over crack pipes on the way to school. We all had family members who became addicted to crack. We were just kids, but we watched them fade away. The A.I.D.S epidemic also shaped my choice to become a therapist. Back then, the queer community suffered in silence and died in shame.

I was just a kid, but I felt things deeply. Watching others suffer triggered one of my core, immutable personality traits: compassion. I decided in elementary school I would do something about the crack that flooded my community and my trans babysitter being murdered. I decided to become a therapist, a trusted guide for those lost in the storm of their own emotions.

I’m truly a Jersey girl at heart. I was a latchkey kid raised on old school hip hop. I have fancy degrees and credentials, but I’m also a real person, living real life- just like you. My healing journey isn’t complete, in many ways it starts, stops and begins again- just like yours. I blend my education, skills and professional and personal experiences into my practice and my work with my clients and the content I create.
